Common Questions

Booking & Preperation

We recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance to secure your preferred date. For moves during peak periods (like summer or end of month) or for particularly complex situations, 3-4 weeks' notice is ideal.

Before we arrive, please ensure there's a clear path to the piano and the exit route. Remove any fragile items, pictures, or obstacles from the route. If the piano is against a wall, try to move furniture away to give us working space. You don't need to do anything to the piano itself - we'll handle all the specialized preparation.

Yes, please remove all items from the piano bench and any sheet music from the piano itself. This prevents items from shifting during transport and protects both the items and the piano.

Pianos can be moved all year-round, but spring and fall often provide ideal conditions with moderate temperatures and less precipitation. Snow and rain can play a big part in delivery if conditions are bad.

Access & Location Assessment

We'll need to know: any steps or stairs, tight corners, lift availability, parking restrictions, and any unusual obstacles. Photos of the access routes at both locations are very helpful for accurate quotes.

Yes, we regularly handle moves to upper floors. We'll need to know if there's a lift or if we'll be using stairs. We'll also check doorway dimensions and hallway turns during the quote process to ensure a safe move plan.

Yes, we regularly handle stairs both internal and external. Our team uses specialized equipment and techniques. We'll assess the steps/ stairs during quote preparation to ensure we bring the right equipment.

Environmental Considerations

Timing & Duration

Most local moves take 30 mins -2 hours from arrival to completion. Complex situations (like multiple flights of stairs) or long-distance moves may take longer. We'll provide a time estimate during booking.

While we prefer advance booking, we understand emergencies happen. We'll do our best to accommodate urgent moves when our schedule allows. Additional fees may apply for short-notice bookings.

After-Move Care

While we take every precaution to minimize movement impact, we recommend waiting 1-2 weeks after the move and then having your piano tuned. This allows it to acclimatize to its new environment.

We recommend waiting 24 hours after the move to allow the piano to settle and adjust to its new environment. This is especially important if there are significant temperature or humidity differences between locations.

Yes, we maintain a network of qualified piano tuners and can provide recommendations for your area. We suggest having your piano tuned 2-3 weeks after moving to ensure it's properly settled.
